I’ve been watching The Crown on Netflix, and wanted to see what Vedic Astrology could reveal about Princess Diana’s career and relationships. Here is her birth chart: Starting with career, Diana has two planets in her house of career - Mars and Rahu - and both of them are in Magha Nakshatra (the Regulus star system). Magha is symbolized by a throne room, which is exactly what her job is - she worked for the royal family. But, because one of the planets associated with her career is Rahu, she wasn’t a run-of-the-mill royal. There is a story in the Vedic legends about Rahu - born a demon, Rahu’s greatest desire was to drink soma, the nectar of the gods. Once you drank soma, so the legends go, you would become immortal, and ascend and be crowned a celestial being. Despite not being allowed to drink soma because he was a demon, Rahu somehow got past the guards, drank the soma, and he became a god. As a result of this story about Rahu’s unconventional break away from the ranks of demons to become a god, Rahu in Vedic Astrology is used to symbolize revolutionary changes, and the transformation of the status quo. These symbols describe Diana’s career quite well - she was not a normal royal who went about her job quietly. During her wedding vows, she was the first in the family to not say that she would “obey” her husband, a tradition that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle later adopted. When she went into labor during her pregnancies, she was the first in the family to go to a hospital - previously, royal mothers had home births. Diana also travelled extensively with her children - prior to her, royal heirs were not allowed to travel together in case an accident disrupted the line of succession. And lastly, she spoke out about taboo topics like mental health and eating disorders, and supported then-controversial causes in her HIV/AIDS work. All these actions are consistent with the Rahu energy of breaking traditions. Also consistent with the Magha Nakshatra symbol of a throne room, Diana broke traditions as part of the royal family. Next, let’s look at Diana’s relationships. Venus, the planet of love and affection, is in this chart’s house of relationships. While this might intuitively sound quite good, the Vedic Astrology texts actually say this can be a problem because it makes the person too charming. The constellation Venus is in is Krittika Nakshatra, which is ruled by Agni, the god of fire. In the Vedic legends, there is a story about Agni where he surreptitiously entered the houses of 7 sages and managed to seduce their wives. This story, together with Diana being a very charming person, shows a strong tendency for extramarital affairs in her relationship.
Everything in this house of relationships was expressed in Diana’s life - she was very charming and attracted a lot of attention, which caused a lot of friction from her husband - the future King desired more time in the spotlight, and didn’t appreciate sharing the spotlight with his wife. Both she and her husband also had multiple other relationships through their marriage. So, we can see that the configuration of planets and constellations when Princess Diana was born accurately reveals major themes about her career and relationships. I like to start Natal Readings by giving an overview of a person's psychology. I feel it's beneficial for people to understand how their mind works, because it makes it easier to identify thought patterns as they happen. It helps identify unproductive desires and letting them go, ultimately supporting the development of a permanent state of equanimity throughout a person’s life. To give you an idea on what this part of the Natal Reading can reveal, let’s go through parts of Obama’s psychology. A person’s psychology is determined by 3 things: the ascendant (the point rising in the East at the time of birth), and the Sun and the Moon. In this post we will be focusing on his ascendant and Sun. Obama’s ascendant (the top diamond where it says “As”) is in Capricorn, which makes him a pragmatic and hardworking person. There are two planets in the ascendant: Saturn and Jupiter. Saturn, the planet of hard work and discipline, emphasizes his pragmatic and diligent qualities to another level, while Jupiter in Capricorn makes him feel like he is never knowledgeable enough. These planets form a unique cocktail that make him an industrious scholar, like a college professor surrounded with books.
The ascendant is in a Nakshatra (constellation) called Dhanishtha. These Nakshatras are 27 constellations in the sky that overlap the 12 signs. Because these constellations are smaller, each sign has multiple Nakshatras. Dhanishtha’s desire is to “revolve around the summit of the Gods”, and so makes the person aspire to be among elite and famous in society. This manifested in Obama’s life as pushing him to become President. Herein lies the beauty of these Nakshatras - without them, an astrologer may have predicted that the chart’s ascendant shows the psychology of a college professor. It’s only with Dhanishtha can we flesh out Obama’s ambitious nature. Obama’s Jupiter and Saturn are in Uttara Ashadha, symbolized by the tusk of an elephant. This is related to the story of how Ganesha broke off his tusk and used it as a pen to write the Mahabharata, because he couldn’t find a pen nearby (!) This brings writing and analytical ability into Obama’s life, and he probably writes to clarify his thoughts. His Sun is in the house of partnerships, and is in a Nakshatra called Ashlesha. Ashlesha’s Shakti or energy is the power to poison. It is symbolized by a coiled snake, and its desire it overcome enemies. When applied to the house of partnerships, this is exactly what a politician would have to go through - constantly dealing with shifting alliances and toxic partnerships. Putting everything together, Obama’s ascendant shows an intelligent, well-read, and hardworking person, and a person that also has the drive and determination required to rise to the top of his chosen field. His Sun in Ashlesha shows political savvy, and brings the ability to overcome his political rivals and opponents. This psychological combination shows a leader who makes decisions after careful deliberation, and also only after considering all the consequences. These are are wonderful psychological traits to have in a leader, making Obama a competent leader. Your Vedic Astrology chart can describe the person you were meant to share your life with. This can be really helpful as it gives you a set of characteristics that allows you to identify your soul mate when you meet him / her, or to determine if you are meant to be with the person you are currently with. To show you what this is like, let’s look at Gisele’s Bundchen’s chart to see if it describes her husband Tom Brady (the former Patriots quarterback). Gisele's chart is shown below: Firstly, Gisele’s 7th house (relationships) is occupied by the Sun and Rahu. The Sun makes her proud of her husband, and gives her partner a tendency to be a leader. Gisele’s Sun is in a constellation called Pushya, which is ruled by Brihaspati the teacher of the Gods. This makes her partner a natural teacher and advisor, a role he performs everyday as he directs his receivers to run appropriate routes. On her partner’s career, we look at Mars as it rules the house of the partner's career. Mars is in Virgo, making her partner analytical and demanding in his career. The constellation Mars is in is Hasta, which is symbolized by a hand, shows Gisele’s partner would have a job that combines physicality and aggression (Mars) with analytical skill (Virgo), and have something to do with the hands (Hasta). Being a professional quarterback, Gisele’s partner fits the bill as his job is to analyze and diagnose the defense, and then throw the ball accurately with his hand. The divisional chart for the spouse provides further detail into Gisele's partner: The ascendant of this chart is in Shatabhisha, a constellation associated with alternative forms of healing. This shows that Gisele’s life partner is someone who prefers non-conventional healing techniques, which is something Brady is definitely known for - he started the TB12 method, which incorporates a plant-based diet, flexibility, supplements, resistance strength training, and injury prevention - all things outside of the standard NFL training regiment and the Western pharma paradigm.
The ruler of the ascendant is Saturn (the planet of discipline). Saturn is placed in the house of goals, making Gisele’s partner a hardworking person who is assiduous in achieving his objectives. This is an appropriate description of Brady, who even at age 42 is the hardest working player on the team. After games while flying home, he’s usually on his laptop watching game film, already preparing for his next game. This chart’s house of career is ruled by Mars, which is in a combination that’s called Ruchaka Yoga, which the Vedic Astrology text says gives her partner the characteristics of a military general. This also rings true, as the quarterback of an NFL team is often likened to a field general, executing the coach’s plan and adapting his strategy to pierce the defense. Mars is in a constellation called Bharani, which is ruled by Yama the God of Death, emphasizing the militaristic nature of Gisele’s partner’s career. The Sun is in a constellation called Magha, which is symbolized by a throne room. This shows that Gisele’s partner has the desire to be treated like royalty, bringing high expectations to his life. The Sun is in the the house of partnerships, focusing these high expectations on Brady’s collaborations. This is again something that he is known for - through his career, he has been really picky with his receivers, sometimes refusing to throw them the ball if they have not run their route to perfection. Venus and Jupiter are also in the house of partnerships and in a constellation called Purva Phalguni. This constellation is ruled by Bhaga the God of Wealth, requiring Brady to partner with people to find wealth and success. Again, this is an accurate description of his career, because he depends on his receivers to get open and catch the ball. As you can see, just by using Gisele's chart, we can describe her life partner. The fact that it accurately describes the characteristics of Tom Brady is a clear indication that they were pre-destined to find each other and spend their lives together. |
