I’ve been watching The Crown on Netflix, and wanted to see what Vedic Astrology could reveal about Princess Diana’s career and relationships. Here is her birth chart: Starting with career, Diana has two planets in her house of career - Mars and Rahu - and both of them are in Magha Nakshatra (the Regulus star system). Magha is symbolized by a throne room, which is exactly what her job is - she worked for the royal family. But, because one of the planets associated with her career is Rahu, she wasn’t a run-of-the-mill royal. There is a story in the Vedic legends about Rahu - born a demon, Rahu’s greatest desire was to drink soma, the nectar of the gods. Once you drank soma, so the legends go, you would become immortal, and ascend and be crowned a celestial being. Despite not being allowed to drink soma because he was a demon, Rahu somehow got past the guards, drank the soma, and he became a god. As a result of this story about Rahu’s unconventional break away from the ranks of demons to become a god, Rahu in Vedic Astrology is used to symbolize revolutionary changes, and the transformation of the status quo. These symbols describe Diana’s career quite well - she was not a normal royal who went about her job quietly. During her wedding vows, she was the first in the family to not say that she would “obey” her husband, a tradition that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle later adopted. When she went into labor during her pregnancies, she was the first in the family to go to a hospital - previously, royal mothers had home births. Diana also travelled extensively with her children - prior to her, royal heirs were not allowed to travel together in case an accident disrupted the line of succession. And lastly, she spoke out about taboo topics like mental health and eating disorders, and supported then-controversial causes in her HIV/AIDS work. All these actions are consistent with the Rahu energy of breaking traditions. Also consistent with the Magha Nakshatra symbol of a throne room, Diana broke traditions as part of the royal family. Next, let’s look at Diana’s relationships. Venus, the planet of love and affection, is in this chart’s house of relationships. While this might intuitively sound quite good, the Vedic Astrology texts actually say this can be a problem because it makes the person too charming. The constellation Venus is in is Krittika Nakshatra, which is ruled by Agni, the god of fire. In the Vedic legends, there is a story about Agni where he surreptitiously entered the houses of 7 sages and managed to seduce their wives. This story, together with Diana being a very charming person, shows a strong tendency for extramarital affairs in her relationship.
Everything in this house of relationships was expressed in Diana’s life - she was very charming and attracted a lot of attention, which caused a lot of friction from her husband - the future King desired more time in the spotlight, and didn’t appreciate sharing the spotlight with his wife. Both she and her husband also had multiple other relationships through their marriage. So, we can see that the configuration of planets and constellations when Princess Diana was born accurately reveals major themes about her career and relationships. Comments are closed.
